Founded by Robin Gentry-McGee, a clinical nutrition expert and pioneer in food-as-medicine innovation, Essential Provisions is delivering a new model for high-performance, grab-and-go nutrition—designed for demanding lifestyles, austere environments, and people who want real food, no matter where life takes them.

Every Essential Provisions MRE is:

Robin’s previous company, Functional Formularies®, transformed the clinical nutrition world with the first whole-food, organic tube feeding formula—an innovation inspired by her father's traumatic brain injury and recovery. In May 2024, the company was acquired by global food and health leader Danone, validating the impact and innovation Robin brought to the space. With Essential Provisions, she brings that same standard to a broader audience, applying functional nutrition principles to everyday performance and resilience.

Ahead of launch, Essential Provisions conducted private tastings with performance-driven communities, including Sorinex WinterStrong7—a private gathering of elite athletes, trainers, and special operations veterans—and at the Wright State University Veteran and Military Center. Feedback praised the meals for their flavor, ingredient transparency, and sustained energy without the crash.
