Our meals are fully cooked and ready to enjoy directly from the package at ambient temperature, or they can be heated by placing the pouch in boiling water or emptying and warming the contents in a pan. Please DO NOT microwave the pouch. Our High-Performance Energy Blends are ready to consume with no prep, making them the perfect blast of nutritious energy. DO NOT consume if seal is broken or package is damaged or swollen.

It’s no secret that we live in a very toxic world. Although we at Essential Provisions do everything we can to find the cleanest products on the planet, we’ve yet to find packaging that is suitable to create a shelf-stable product with a very lengthy shelf life and no preservatives needed. We’ve left no stone unturned in our search for options but the only option is one with a very short shelf life and a huge minimum order. As always, we are hoping that more companies start requesting recyclable packaging and that better options will be available soon.

All Essential Provisions meals are 12oz single-serving pouches, 340 grams. The High-Performance Energy Blends are a 4oz single serving, 113 grams.

Our list of “what’s never included” in our products is nearly as long, as what is in them. Whether sourcing ethically harvested 100% lifetime grazed-prairie, grass-fed, regenerative bison, organic A2/A2 dairy from 100% grass-fed/finished regenerative cows, regenerative raised turkeys and chickens, wild-caught salmon from a small sustainable fishery in Alaska, and organic vegetables and spices, we draw on the richness of our world and curate whole food nutrition you won't find elsewhere. Although our products are free from stated allergens, our manufacturer handles wheat, soy, dairy, eggs, tree nut, and sesame at their facility. While equipment is thoroughly sanitized after production, we cannot guarantee that airborne allergens are not present.

Our unique manufacturing process creates shelf-stable products that can be stored for years without preservatives.

It really comes down to what temperature they are stored at. Essential Provisions entrées can be stored for up to five years based on storage temperature. This is known as “shelf life.” Shelf life may be extended if stored in a cool temperature. Heat may shorten shelf life. Freezing is not recommended as it may damage the seal on the pouches used to package the entrees and cause them to spoil. If the pouch is bloated or the seal is broken, discard and do not use.

For this reason, our entrees do not have a best-buy date but have a manufacturer date stating when the product was packaged. The manufacturer's date is also known as a Julian date. For example, 25056. The first two numbers represent the year 2025. The next three numbers, 056, would be representative of the 56th day of 2025.
