Upon opening the Hearty Bison Stew, I immediately flashed back to Ft. Bragg, NC. The sight and smell of the stew reminded me of many days in the field trading and scouring for a Beef stew MRE. After heating it up, I instinctively reached for hot sauce before even tasting the stew. Then, I remembered this is a food review, and I must refrain for now. The Bison Stew lives up to the name of Hearty. It carries a great flavor, and you don’t get overpowered with salt and other preservatives found in pre-made stews. The portion size is perfect for a quick bite when outdoors, or in my case traveling for work and tired of eating at the nearest drive thru. I like the high protein amount, compared to other branded outdoor meal pouches. The stew does not sit heavy in the stomach, and I didn’t get the usual lethargic feeling after eating it that I usually do when eating out in the field.
