Ohio-Based Company Launches Regeneratively Sourced, Ready-to-Eat Meals That Redefine Field Nutrition

WILMINGTON, OH Essential Provisions®, an Ohio-based food company, will officially launch its highly anticipated line of ready-to-eat meals on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at www.essentialprovisions.com. Built around the belief that food is fuel—and medicine—these shelf-stable meals are crafted with organic ingredients, regeneratively sourced produce, pasture or prairie raised grass-fed, grass-finished meats, offering a clean, no-compromise solution for those living and working in high-demand environments.

Founded by Robin Gentry-McGee, a wellness innovator known for creating the first organic, whole-food tube feeding formula with her previous company, Functional Formularies®, Essential Provisions brings that same food-as-medicine philosophy to a new frontier: performance-ready Meals Ready-to-Eat (MRE).

“We didn’t set out to make typical field rations,” said Gentry-McGee. “We set out to create meals that truly nourish—made with ingredients that support the body, sharpen the mind, and restore energy. These are meals you can feel good about eating anywhere, whether you're in the backcountry, on the front lines, or shuttling kids to and from activities.”

Essential Provisions MREs are:

  • Made with organic ingredients
  • Contain pasture or prairie raised, organic or regeneratively grass-fed, grass-finished meats
  • Free from preservatives, fillers, added sugars, and industrial seed oils
  • Shelf-stable for up to five years—without sacrificing flavor or nutrient integrity
  • Ready-to-eat with no prep, no rehydration, and no heating required

The company conducted multiple tasting and feedback events in advance of launch, including with the Wright State University Veteran and Military Center and at Sorinex WinterStrong7, where athletes, first responders, and military professionals sampled the meals in action. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the meals’ real flavor, clean ingredient profiles, and functional energy.
