Dr. Paul Arciero (“Dr. Paul”), is a distinguished scientist and full professor who directs the Human Nutrition, Metabolism, and Performance Laboratory in the Department of Health and Human Physiological Sciences at Skidmore College. His extensive academic career also includes appointments as a full professor at the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition, a research professor at Union College's Psychology and Neurosciences Department, and an adjunct professor at The Sage Colleges' Department of Nutrition.

Dr. Arciero's peer-reviewed scientific research, which focuses on easily implemented lifestyle strategies for losing belly fat, gaining lean muscle, reducing disease, and improving physical and cognitive performance, formed the basis of his Amazon #1 Best-Selling book, “The PRISE® Life”. For this research, he was awarded "Most Likely to Change the World" by The Academic Minute on National Public Radio. His work has been published in premier scientific journals, including Nature Communications, Obesity Journal, Journal of Applied Physiology, and the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, and has been featured in global media outlets like BBC World News, The Wall Street Journal, TIME, USA Today, and the Today Show.

Beyond his academic work, Dr. Paul serves as a performance and nutrition expert for top-tier individuals, including Olympic medalists and world-class professional athletes in the National Hockey League (NHL), American Hockey League (AHL), boxing, cycling, and rowing. His consulting also extends to collegiate, high school, and masters’ athletes, as well as business and thought leaders from around the world. He is a Senior Consultant and Scientific Advisory Board member to the nutrition, fitness, and wellness industries and was appointed to the 15-member International Protein Board (IPB Advisory Board), which is composed of the world’s leading protein scientists.

Research Impact and Achievements

Throughout his career, Dr. Paul has been awarded over $10 million in research grant funding. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed publications that are cited over 8,132 times, with an h-index of 46 and an i10-index of 68, all of which are considered "excellent" measures of scientific impact. An accomplished athlete, he is an inductee into the CCSU Athletics Hall of Fame for tennis, having played #1 singles and doubles and earning All-New England honors for four consecutive years. Dr. Arciero also serves as a media spokesperson and regular volunteer for the American Heart Association (AHA), where he is a past board member for the Capital Region.

As President and CEO of PRISE LLC, Dr. Paul provides health and wellness consulting for organizations and industries. The company owns the PRISE® Life app. He and his wife Karen have three sons, Nicholas, Noah, and Aidan, and enjoy spending time together outdoors.
